Uncommon Artistry

I opened my etsy shop in the spring of 2012 at the urging of my son and daughter in law who love this site. I love it too!

I began my jewelry business in 1986 while at home with 2 small children. It has been my full time occupation since then - and right through having a third child and becoming a sole support parent. As a grandmother of 3 I am still making jewelry as my only form of income - but now I can create anywhere!

I am totally self taught in my original style of what I call continuous line wirework. My passion for nature, sound, movement and all things artistic and creative definitely influence my designs and guide my life.

I have an ongoing passion for designing jewelry, springing from a desire to please people (and a background in marketing and psychology), and a willingness to consider all tastes and styles. Please do not hesitate to contact me about custom work if you like my style. Do you have some favourite beads? I'd be happy to create something wonderful just for you.

It is important to me that my jewelry expresses uncommon artistry - that it does not look like other jewelry - or maybe similar, but uniquely different. I do not work from books or use other peoples designs. I have designed some classics though which have been best sellers for 30 years now.

In my creating I love to surprise myself - to be inspired by design. To be inspired literally means - to breathe in - and I live for those moments when I know I am in the flow of life-giving creativity.

I have many lines of jewelry - color changes (interchangeable discs), talismans honoring women, stonewear, studs, hoops, music and dance, designer and gallery.. And more coming all the time! I have created wedding jewelry many times - for brides, mothers and brides maids.

Over the past 30 years I have sold my jewelry to over 500 stores across Canada (a few in the states and elsewhere), and have taken part in over 150 juried retail craft shows, and at least a dozen trade shows, as well as having my own bricks and mortar gallery for 22 years.

I am also keen on wholesale opportunities with real bricks and mortar businesses - anywhere in the world! I will be taking part in some studio tours this fall in southern ontario.

I believe in online shopping as the future for many artists, although seeing things in person will always be my first choice. I am grateful that etsy has been created and that it is managed with such integrity and vision. Please do make my shop a favourite so you can see new postings more easily.

If you live near Owen Sound please do visit the Owen Sound Artists' Co-op now located in the heritage MacKay building downtown. I do sell to other stores as well and will provide a list of those soon.
